Fiery sculptures will appear in the Yantra River in Gabrovo for the Festival of Light. Following the living statues in glowing costumes, the audience will now be surprised by fire sculptures erected in the riverbed of the Yantra. The objects, made of iron and steel, will be crafted by workshop participants Stanimir Veselinov, Simona Bozhilova, Angel Mintov, and Nikola Mihov, under the guidance of Prof. Dobrin Atanasov, a lecturer at the Department of Visual Arts at Sofia University.
At dusk on Tuesday, July 29, from the Curly Bridge, we will witness how the burning tongues trace out the shape of the sculptures. Before that, the artists from F.I.M.S. will demonstrate their skills in fire dancing.
During these relentlessly hot days, as we witness the destructive power of fire, the organizers aim to remind us of the flame as a symbol of knowledge and creative energy.
