The price of a typical consumer basket remains stable at 97 BGN, announced Vladimir Ivanov, chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.
Wholesale prices for some fruits and vegetables decreased: tomatoes (-0.29 BGN/kg), red pepper (-0.12 BGN/kg), cabbage (-0.04 BGN/kg), green pepper (-0.20 BGN/kg), while apples remained stable. Prices rose for cucumbers (+0.24 BGN/kg), lemons (+1.44 BGN/kg), zucchini (+0.12 BGN/kg), apricots (+1.92 BGN/kg), peaches (+0.29 BGN/kg), watermelon (+0.58 BGN/kg), potatoes (+0.40 BGN/kg), onions (+0.31 BGN/kg), and carrots (+0.09 BGN/kg).
Among staple foods, pork (+0.10 BGN/kg), cheese (+0.02 BGN), and milk (+0.05 BGN/L) increased, while kashkaval (-1.09 BGN/kg), yogurt (-0.04 BGN), chicken (-0.09 BGN/kg), oil (+0.04 BGN/L), rice (-0.04 BGN/kg), flour (+0.01 BGN/kg), and butter (-0.06 BGN/125g) decreased.
Ivanov noted the market remains stable, following European trends, with no factors likely to trigger sudden price spikes. Free-market interaction ensures adequate supply despite poor climatic conditions, exemplified by the fluctuations in peaches and apricots.
