According to Eurostat data published for International Beer Day (first Friday of August). EU member states produced 32.7 billion liters of alcoholic beer and 2 billion liters of non-alcoholic beer (less than 0.5% alcohol), totaling 34.7 billion liters.
Compared to 2023, alcoholic beer production rose slightly by 0.6% (+0.2 billion liters), while non-alcoholic beer saw an 11.1% increase (+0.2 billion liters). Overall beer production grew by 0.4 billion liters year-over-year.
Germany remained the top producer with 7.2 billion liters (22.2% of the EU total), followed by Spain (4 billion), Poland (3.4 billion), the Netherlands (2.2 billion), and Belgium (2.1 billion).
In Bulgaria, alcoholic beer production reached 471 million liters in 2024, up from 458 million liters in 2023.
In terms of exports, the Netherlands led with 1.5 billion liters of alcoholic beer exported, despite a 12% decline from 2023. Germany and Belgium followed with 1.4 billion liters each, then the Czech Republic (0.6 billion) and Ireland (0.5 billion).
France was the largest importer, bringing in 0.8 billion liters, followed by Italy (over 0.7 billion), Spain and Germany (almost 0.6 billion each), and the Netherlands (almost 0.5 billion).
