Seasonally adjusted unemployment in the eurozone remained unchanged at 6.2% in June 2025 compared to May, according to Eurostat. Year-on-year, this marks a slight decrease from 6.4% in June 2024.
Across the EU, the unemployment rate held steady at 5.9% in June 2025, down from 6% a year earlier.
In Bulgaria, unemployment rose slightly to 3.7% in June from 3.5% in May, but fell from 4% in June 2024. Around 114,000 people were unemployed—7,000 more than in May, but 7,000 fewer than a year ago.
Eurostat estimates 12.97 million unemployed in the EU, including 10.7 million in the eurozone. Compared to May 2025, the number decreased by 23,000 in the EU and by 62,000 in the eurozone.
Youth unemployment stood at 14.7% in the EU and 14.1% in the eurozone. Bulgaria reported a youth unemployment rate of 10.5% in June—up from 9.9% in May, but down from 11.8% in June 2024.
Among women in the EU, unemployment dropped to 6%, while for men it remained at 5.7%. In Bulgaria, it was 3.3% for women and 4.1% for men in June 2025.
