The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) has approved the natural gas price for August at BGN 62.09/MWh (excluding access, transmission fees, excise, and VAT). At this rate, Bulgargaz EAD will sell gas to end suppliers and licensed heat producers and transmitters.
The price was determined based on updated data submitted by Bulgargaz, including the full contracted quantity of Azeri gas supplied via the Bulgaria–Greece interconnector (IGB), under a long-term agreement with Azerbaijan. These volumes cover a significant portion of demand and contribute to a favorable final price.
For August, Bulgargaz also secured LNG volumes through contracts with traders following a competitive tender, based on minimum delivery price and payment terms.
The approved price includes: the entry price at gas transmission networks, the “public supply” activity fee under Article 17(7) of the NRCPG, and a compensation component under Article 11a(2) for storage costs at the Chiren gas facility, in line with the Emergency Action Plan.
The set price is 3.8% lower than July’s, which was BGN 64.55/MWh. EWRC’s full decision will be published on its official website.
