At an official ceremony today, the new name of the capital’s airport — Vasil Levski — was unveiled, according to Dariknews.
“It is a great honor for me to open this event. We have gathered to mark the naming of Bulgaria’s largest air gateway after Vasil Levski — a symbol for every cause, for every flight. We want every Bulgarian citizen and every guest arriving at the airport to remember Levski’s ideal of a pure and sacred republic. Let us recall his words: ‘Let us be equal to the other European nations.’ Bulgaria is slowly but surely achieving Levski’s ideal,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadzhov.
“Everyone landing in Sofia will see a symbol, a legacy,” added Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect, during the ceremony. According to him, Vasil Levski is not only a historical symbol, but also a measure of conscience.
