The country’s wholesale food market is showing signs of stability, reports Nova TV.
According to the latest data from the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DCSBT), there were no major price spikes last week. The market is mainly influenced by seasonal and climatic factors.
At a regular briefing, DCSBT noted that the wholesale food market remains stable. Minor increases of a few cents were observed for tomatoes, cucumbers, pork, chicken, and milk. Over the week, the consumer basket rose by 1 lev, from 97 to 98 lev, due to seasonal effects.
“The trend of normal market interaction continues. Prices are influenced only by climatic factors, reflecting a healthy market balance for August,” said DCSBT chairman Vladimir Ivanov. He added that since May 20, there has been no impact from the euro introduction; changes are due to other factors.
The Commission also reported price drops for watermelon, peaches, carrots, butter, and yellow cheese over the week.
